MagicDraw is a visual UML modeling and CASE tool designed for the Business Analyst, Software Analyst, Programmer, QA Engineer, Documentation Writer, or Corporate Executive. The tool allows the developer or business professional to draw, design, and view UML diagrams of Object Oriented (OO) systems. Besides UML diagramming it also provides industry's best code engineering mechanism - full round-trip support for Java, C++, and CORBA IDL programming languages.

The MagicDraw Personal Edition contains all of MagicDraw's powerful UML diagramming capabilities, including full UML 1.4 support and extensibility features, basic reporting functionality and image export. Files are stored in XMI format. All model elements can be accessed via MagicDraw's Open API. In this edition, you will find everything you need to draw, edit and publish your UML models. MagicDraw Personal Edition is available only in a standalone version and is not designed for use with the MagicDraw Teamwork Server. MagicDraw is a handy UML editor. Including cut/copy/paste and undo/redo functions, friendly and customizable GUI lets you to express your ideas in UML as quickly and straightforward as possible. The whole set of UML 1.3 is supported. If you are preparing documentation that needs UML diagrams in it, MagicDraw can convert drawn diagrams to the wide variety of bitmap and scalable formats: jpeg, png, svg, dxf, eps, and wmf. MagicDraw is a powerful code engineering tool. You may construct UML models, generate source code from it, code more by hand or use your favorite IDE, then reverse the code again, make some changes in MagicDraw, and merge that model with code again - no details are lost, no matter which way (backward or forward) you are going. MagicDraw is a UML model reporting facility. Based on the XSL files for every model element you can generate custom HTML reports. MagicDraw allows you to select what parts of the model must be reported and how the report should look. MagicDraw is an OO model analysis tool. If you have OO model expressed with UML, MagicDraw can generate package dependency diagrams, recover and display inheritance trees, or track any other kind of relation such as dependency, association, realization, and class usage as a method parameter or a return value. MagicDraw is a custom OO model generator MagicDraw can generate parts of the model automatically. You can generate the associated classes for any selected object to make it participant of some GoF Design Pattern, make an EJB component out of it or convert it to a class that can be accessed remotely according to the Java RMI specification. MagicDraw is a team modeling tool. More than one developer may work with the same OO model. The UML model is stored in the Teamwork Server repository and every developer can lock a part of the model and work on that part individually. Later changes can be committed to the server and shared with the team. The server works much like the source code version control system. The tool is suited for a wide variety of systems including real-time , client/server and distributed n-tier application design.
